A lucky lottery ticket holder in California holds the winning ticket from Friday night’s drawing for the $1.22 billion Mega Millions jackpot.

A winning ticket sold in Cottonwood, California, means the winner will have a nice ending to 2024 as the Mega Millions jackpot, estimated at $1.22 billion, has a cash payout of $549.7 million, according to the lottery -dollars.

Winning the fifth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in history came in a year that saw the fewest jackpot winners in a calendar year, with just three jackpot winners. The last time was on September 10th in Texas, when one lucky person won a $552 million jackpot.

There were also five winners worth $1 million each in Friday’s drawing, according to the lottery.

Yes, a winning ticket for the $1.22 billion jackpot was sold in Cottonwood, California, a town of about 6,300 people located 200 miles north of San Francisco.

According to the California Lottery, the ticket was purchased at Sunshine Food and Gas at 3505 Rhonda Road.

Mega Millions winning numbers for 12/27/24

The winning numbers for Friday, Dec. 27’s Mega Millions drawing were white ball numbers 3, 7, 37, 49 and 55, as well as gold Mega Ball 6 and a multiplier of 3X, the lottery said.

How to play Mega Millions
