The UVM men’s soccer team is returning to Vermont, with the parade scheduled for January

Welcome back, Catamounts! The University of Vermont men’s soccer team has returned to the Green Mountain State as NCAA Division I champions, a historic moment for the college.

The celebration was underway today and the team received a warm but loud welcome at Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium from fans and city leaders alike. Senator Patrick Leahy was in attendance along with acting UVM President Patricia Prelock.

Short speeches were given by athletics director Jeff Schulman and coach Rob Dow, who emphasized the importance of a big win like this in Vermont. Schulman noted that the team was fighting its way up midway through finals week, another hurdle it was able to overcome.

Vermont forward Maximilian Kissel (9) scores the golden goal in overtime as Marshall goalkeeper Aleksa Janjic (33) defends on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The festivities continue through Dec. 18, where the team will be welcomed to the UVM men’s basketball game at 7 p.m. A parade is planned for January, when students will be back from winter break.

Give the University of Vermont men’s soccer team a warm welcome over the next few weeks of celebration as they bring the NCAA Division I title back to Vermont. Stay tuned for a parade scheduled for January where all Catamount fans can join in the celebration.
