The Rose Bowl followed the theme of much of these College Football Playoffs (aside from the Peach Bowl) and was another blowout, with Ohio State defeating top-seeded Oregon. But because these second-round playoff games are bowl games, teams can celebrate the win like they would in a standalone bowl game.

There’s a stage, a trophy presentation and everything.

But Ohio State quarterback Will Howard had to watch the celebrations from the stairs in the background.

As the Buckeyes were on stage celebrating the 41-21 win, Howard tried to get there to join his teammates. However, we saw in a video that Howard was not allowed up there. There was nothing personal against the Buckeyes quarterback – just that the team had reached the weight capacity of the stage.

Of course, a simple solution would have been for a player to swap places with Howard and let him stand up there. Offscreen voices tried to explain to the official that this was the team’s quarterback, but Howard had to wait his turn.

He eventually came onto the scene, but the Rose Bowl should look for equipment that can support a team of literal football players. Just a thought.

Ohio State will travel to Arlington to face Texas in the semifinals.
