The White House Press Secretary falsely claims that the majority supports President Biden’s pardon of Hunter

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced immediate backlash online after she nearly doubled the number of Americans who reportedly support President Biden’s sweeping pardon of his son.

President Biden issued a full pardon to Hunter Biden on Sunday after repeatedly saying he would not do so. The first son was convicted in two separate federal cases earlier this year. He pleaded guilty to federal tax charges in September and was convicted of three gun crimes in June after he lied on a mandatory gun purchase form and said he had not used drugs illegally or had a drug addiction.

For over a year, the president and Jean-Pierre repeatedly insisted that Hunter would not receive a pardon.

At her first televised White House news conference since the pardon, the press secretary was bombarded with questions from reporters.

Karine Jean-Pierre talks about the pardon

Karine Jean-Pierre was bombarded with questions about Hunter Biden’s pardon and her denial that it would happen.

In her defense of the pardon, Jean-Pierre appealed to the American people’s understanding of the “difficult” decision. She cited a survey whose results were the opposite of what she claimed.

“I think it’s important to note here, since you’re asking me these questions – important questions to ask – that there was a survey, a US government survey, in which some of you all reported on this. ” she said.

“And it said 64% of the American people agreed with the pardon – 64% of the American people. So we get a sense of where the American people stand on this issue. Obviously it’s a survey, but it gives you a little insight.” “64 percent is nothing to sneeze at,” she emphasized.

She later said again: “I pulled up the US leader’s poll where 64% of Americans, that’s not a small number, agree with the president’s decision to pardon his son.”

The poll came from YouGov, not the US government, which doesn’t exist.

However, according to the survey, it was 64% Democrats who supported the pardon. Of the American population, only 34% “strongly” or “somewhat” approved of the pardon, while 50% of Americans either “strongly” or “somewhat” disagreed.

Social media users were quick to point out the error.

“She’s wrong,” wrote Check Your Fact features editor Elias Atienza. “The YouGov poll shows that 64% of Democrats, not 64% of Americans, supported the pardon. Overall, 34% of Americans supported it and 50% opposed it.”

RedState front page contributor Bonchie said: “This is a psychotic level of lying. The kind of things that used to get someone shamed by polite society. Of course she’ll be on MSNBC next year.”

“Why is she even up there?” asked Fox News columnist David Marcus.

TRUMP ASKS ABOUT ‘J-6’ HOSTAGES IN RESPONSE TO BIDEN’S PARENCY OF HUNTER: ‘SUCH AN ABUSE’

The Chicks on the Right account asked if Jean-Pierre could start a new chapter on her way out of the White House.

“Couldn’t you try sucking a little less these last few weeks, @PressSec? Or just lie a little less? My God, you are terrible. Just absolutely terrible,” posted Chicks On The Right.

Greg Price, Trump 2024 deputy crisis response director, corrected the White House press secretary: “It was put out by YouGov and it showed that 64% of Democrats approved of the pardon, compared to just 34% overall. Worst press secretary ever.”

Social media strategist Chuck Callesto agreed: “She is, without a doubt, the worst. Prove me wrong.”

“My goodness, she literally took a poll backwards from the White House podium,” said Republican communicator Matt Whitlock. “She really might be the worst press secretary in history.”
