No wonder Gwen let Jose Luis go after he gave us singing as impressive as his swagger so she could keep Jan Dan. We need to stop wondering how Reba was able to shake off Lauren-Michael Sellers’ emotional performance to hold onto Danny Joseph after his worst performance in the competition.

We also need to get over the fact that Michael dumped Michael Jackson over Jaukeem Fortson over time, and that “Uncle Snoop” preferred average country singer Christina Eagle to Aliyah Khaylyn, even after she had just heard the latter’s name was Whitney Houston killed.

It won’t be easy.

Perhaps the only way to stop ourselves from looking back and saying “WTH?!?” is to look forward. So let’s try it, shall we? Working for you: The show has positioned the 15-year-old as a season 26 Taylor Swift wannabe. Working against them: Tay Tay, that’s not her. When Sydney is good, she is very good indeed. If she isn’t, her youth and experience show more than her potential.

Work for him: He is a great singer whose development has impressed his coach. Working against him: He is Only a great singer. And while his stage presence is improving, he’s unlikely to match that of the contestants who seem born for the spotlight.

Work for him: He has a voice that doesn’t stop. You could say it and it would still go on; it’s huge and he knows how to control it. Working against him: Jeremy’s musical theater singing doesn’t often get a contestant over the finish line.

Work for him: The English-born Texan is a fantastic showman with a voice as memorable and lively as he is. Working against him: The questionable song choice cost Danny momentum in the playoffs, which he managed to win again. He has to play to his strengths.

Working for you: She’s as likeable as anyone and is blessed with a voice so rich it could give Carole King a run for her money. Working against them: We know, right? We knowledge that Shye can be great. But she needs a smarter song choice than One Direction.

Working for you: The North Carolina native is the only country singer still in the competition – a huge advantage given audiences’ historic love of country music. Working against them: Christina gives her best on stage; Everything doesn’t always seem to be enough for her.

Work for him: His singing is as powerful as it is impressive. Additionally, he is excellent at making a well-known song feel like his own. Working against him: Maybe just the No. 1 candidate and the fact that we have two new coaches whose fan base we can’t predict.

Work for him: He has a killer voice and knows how to use it. He also feels so comfortable on stage that it could be his living room. Working against him: Sofronio is just as good as Adam, and Christina will bring that quite Country voting.
