Tornado warning for parts of North Carolina

MORNING. I mean, we have storms, ADRIANA. I mean, when the show started, our alarms went off, and. And so things kind of start to accelerate, I guess you could say. A line of storms approaches ahead of this line. The National Weather Service is taking a proactive approach and alerting everyone ahead of the finish line that conditions could be favorable for a few brief tornadoes later this morning and into the early afternoon. The warning you heard was for DAVIE COUNTY, INCLUDING MOCKSVILLE. THEY HAVE A TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 1:00 AM THIS AFTERNOON. MORE OF OUR COUNTIES WILL LIKELY BE ADDED TO THIS CLOCK IN THE NEXT HOURS, BUT FOR NOW IT’S JUST DAVIE COUNTY. You’re going out this morning. You can tell that things are kind of unsettled and there are probably a few storms on the way. We are about 20 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday. THE WARM FRONT STARTS TO RISE THROUGH THE AREA. A WIDE VARIETY OF TEMPERATURES. It feels cool and stable in the mountains and foothills, but down here in the Triad we’re in the low 60s. The dew points are also rising into the low 60s, so it will be a little warmer here. WE GET SOME MOISTURE. That will provide some fuel for this line of storms when it moves through later. This is a kind of corridor. We await a greater chance of potentially damaging winds and a brief tornado later this afternoon. BECAUSE OF THIS CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE AND THE WARM FRONT PASSING THROUGH. We also have some fog out there. Therefore, you should be careful on your way to church. Some of this fog could be dense. Most of us are dry right now. YOU CAN SEE THE YELLOW BOX ON THE RIGHT, THERE IS THE TORNADO WATCH, INCLUDING MOCKSVILLE STATESVILLE TO HICKORY AND CHARLOTTE. At the moment there are only a few light showers in the mountains. BUT IN THE WEST THERE IS THE GREAT SERIES OF STORMS. We still have a few hours until it starts moving into the Triad, but it’s on the way and you can see these new tornado watches extended to the Carolinas ahead of that line. So I believe that this storm or series of storms that will begin moving into our western counties at 11:00, 12, and 1:00 will move through the heart of the Triad at 9:00 this morning and A brings with it There is a risk of strong wind, heavy rain or a spin-up TORNADO. And then at 2 or 3 it starts to leave our area into eastern North Carolina. THERE COULD BE A FEW showers LATER IN THE EVENING, sort of lagging behind the cold front, but our main show should be around lunchtime today, 9am to 3pm, that’s a wide range. This is the window. We want you to be clear about this. Keep an eye on the forecast. We will look after you here all day long. Heavy rain and gusty winds will be our main concern. But here too, it cannot be completely ruled out that there will be a brief risk of tornadoes throughout Piedmont. Not only do we have storms to talk about, we also have some gusty winds. EVEN BEFORE THE STORMS. AHEAD OF THIS SERIES OF STORMS COULD PURCH 30 TO 35 MPH WINDS LATER IN THE MORNING AND INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. So it will be a warm, stormy and unsettled day for a few hours around midday. This is that time frame. We want you to be aware that it will be warm and windy. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPARED TO THE WEATHER WE HAVE HAD THE LAST DAYS. Almost 60 in the foothills. LATER THIS AFTERNOON 50’S FOR THE MOUNTAINS FROM WEST TO EAST. THIS STORM RISK WILL GRADUALLY LESS OVER THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS OF SUNDAY. We dry out overnight. Monday looks pretty nice. LOW 60’S SUNSHINE. TUESDAY FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE. THERE COULD BE A FEW SPOT SHOWERS HERE OR THERE, BUT I BELIEVE by the time the ball is dry around midnight on Wednesday and into Thursday it will be cooler and it should be dry and sunny to start our first few days of 2025, so stay up to date. TODAY WE HAVE A TORNADO WATCH FOR DAVIE COUNTY UNTIL 1:00 PM. There’s a slim chance of a few showers on New Year’s Eve and then we’ll be dry and dry
