There is a threat of strong storms in Arkansas on Saturday

A strong storm system will move across Arkansas on Saturday, impacting the state with strong winds and heavy rain.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A strong storm system will move through parts of Arkansas on Saturday, hitting the state with strong winds, heavy rain and even the possibility of a few tornadoes.

Below are the latest forecast models and what type of weather each part of the state could see.

How high is the risk of the storms?

The greatest threat of severe weather remains in south and southeast Arkansas, where the current risk is low or two out of five (enhanced risk or three out of five in Chicot, Ashley and Union counties).


When are the storms coming?

The latest high-resolution radar satellite data shows storms across southwest Arkansas late Saturday morning.

During the afternoon hours, these storms will be near central Arkansas and will be in eastern Arkansas by Saturday evening around 6:00 p.m.

Most of these storms are expected to move east of the region by midnight, with the risk of severe weather subsiding. Scattered showers are possible on Sunday morning, but these will be limited in scope and intensity.
