Jimmy Fallon has admitted defeat!

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Consuelos and Kelly Ripa revealed on Dec. 13 that host Mark Consuelos sent flowers following their showdown in PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive reader poll Live with Kelly and Mark. Despite a bitterly fought war on their respective shows, which included attack ads and Fallon’s calls for Consuelos to resign, Consuelos finished first in his category in the popular poll for the second year in a row.

Ripa and Consuelos arrived at their home last night to find “the most consequential floral arrangement I’ve ever seen,” Ripa said.

The vase was about a meter high and full of white roses; Consuelos estimated the number at 500, although Ripa suspected the actual number was higher. The entire arrangement was slightly taller than Consuelos, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall.

“To the hottest talk show host out there: There was never really any competition – Jimmy,” the message reads.

Kimmel – who promoted his Christmas album to No. 1 Christmas spice – He then joined Ripa and Consuelos, his biggest rival in PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive poll, on their show.

“PEOPLE’s Sexiest Talk Show Host and everyone voted, and Mark Consuelos wiped the floor with me,” Kimmel said. “And he won. And you really did it and you deserve it.”

“It got ugly, it got dirty,” Ripa added.

Kimmel said he aired some “attack ads” to try to sway votes. He tried so hard to take the title, he said – he even asked Consuelos to withdraw his name from consideration in the hopes of increasing his own chances.

“I tried! I tried to get out, but the people at PEOPLE said, ‘You can’t get out,'” Consuelos said.

“I asked them afterwards if it was close and they said it was very narrowly,” he continued, adding, “They won the Electoral College.”

Kimmel didn’t like any of Consuelos’ excuses.

“I asked you to get out! Respectfully drop out of the race! I have to walk around town – I’ve seen you all over town with no clothes on!” Kimmel said, then showed Consuelos a photo of himself on a billboard.

“Man, I really tried hard,” Kimmel complained. “You’re the best, you’re a good sport.”
