There will be at least two “Holy Crap” announcements at the 2024 Game Awards, but neither of them are Bloodborne

We’re just a day away from the Game Awards 2024, Geoff Keighley’s end-of-year ceremony that crowns the best games released in 2024 while serving as a veritable hype machine for the future of the industry.

Video Game Chronicle’s Andy Robinson has already praised this year’s show, and now Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has reiterated his sentiments. In the latest Kinda Funny videocast, Schreier said:

What can I say without getting in trouble? So I know there will be a few announcements that would be considered big announcements. However, big announcements involve games that will only come onto the market years later. I think there’s a good chance you’ll see a teaser trailer or two for a game that looks like 2026, or even later in many cases.

(…) I mean, yeah, there are at least two things that will make you react like saint (__), like, “I can’t believe this thing is here.” At least two things, that I say.

Schreier cited Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse and Monolith’s Wonder Woman as the type of announcement he was referring to: very big games but still several years away from release. Nevertheless, they should inspire people.

However, if you’re one of those longing for a sequel or remaster of Bloodborne for PlayStation 5 and PC (although the ShadPS4 emulator is making great strides), Schreier has already ruled out that possibility with a short “Isn’t” post on Reddit .

We know for sure that we’ll be getting trailers for Take-Two’s Mafia: The Old Country and Borderlands 4 at the 2024 Game Awards. As a reminder, the pre-show goes live at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The whole thing will take about three and a half hours, which is unfortunately a bit of a nightmare for us Europeans.
