There will be storms on the Pacific front early Saturday

A few storms swing through early this Saturday morning, and more are likely to form over the next few hours as a strong weather system moves through. Some of the storms could be severe, primarily impacting areas along and east of I-35. Hail up to 2 inches in size is the biggest concern in early morning storms, followed by strong, damaging winds. A severe storm warning is in effect until noon today for Bosque, Hill and Navarro counties. As storms move further east, the potential for damaging winds increases, particularly in the afternoon. All activities should stop around 3:00 p.m. Where it doesn’t rain, dense fog is possible.

Storms should ease by late afternoon, leading to a fine evening with persistent fog in the east. Saturday will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

The last Monday of 2024 will be warm, with temperatures rising up to 20° above normal and highs around 80°! The front ushering in the New Year is strong, reaching Monday evening. On New Year’s Eve the high temperatures drop by a good 20+ degrees, the daily highs are around 60°. We’ll dip into the 30s overnight, and a light frost is possible for our northern counties the first night of 2025. There will be more freezing spots Thursday morning, but southerly winds return Friday, bringing warmer temperatures again with a steady climb back into the low and mid 60s for the end of next week.
