A film from the popular children’s animated series Bluish is reportedly in the works and both kids and adults are excited about the news.

The Walt Disney Co. and BBC Studios said Tuesday that a film based on the hit Australian animated series will be released in 2027. The film is written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm, with voices provided by series regulars including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack.

According to the companies, the CGI animated film will “continue the adventures of Bluey, a lovable, inexhaustible Blue Heeler dog who lives with her mother, father and little sister Bingo.”

“I have always believed that ‘Bluey’ deserved a feature film,” Brumm said in a statement. “I want this to be an experiential event that the whole family can enjoy together.”

“Bluey” debuted in 2018 and has quickly become one of the most popular shows on television. She is often praised for her refreshing and emotional storytelling, which has been known to bring parents to tears.

In fact, news of the upcoming film sparked a predictable reaction from adults, with many saying they would watch it even if their children were no longer interested in Bluey.

“I will watch this on release day even if my kids stop watching Bluey in 2027,” said one father.

Another fan joked: “Yes! Bluey the film. I have to go and check it out. Children can also come if they want…”

Others are very optimistic about the film’s box office and prize potential.

“I’m calling it Bluey for an Oscar win now,” one person said.

Another said: “I want Bluey to beat ‘Avatar’ and just be the highest grossing movie of all time.”
