There’s a hidden DC superhero in the Superman trailer that you almost certainly missed

While the first Superman trailer clearly reveals a number of supporting characters, it also features a hidden DC superhero that fans have almost certainly missed.

The engineer, played by María Gabriela de Faría, is seen running across the roof of the LuthorCorp building in a real moment that is hard to miss. It’s hard to make out the character, but if you zoom in a little you’ll see the engineer in blurry detail.

Writer-director James Gunn responded to a fan who spotted the engineer in the trailer to confirm the find, writing on Threads: “Haha you’re right!!”

The Engineer / Angela Spica is an electronics prodigy and a member of the superhero team The Authority, who will eventually get their own DCU film. It will reportedly incorporate several characters from DC’s Wildstorm imprint, with Gunn himself working on a draft. The engineer is arguably the most powerful member of the group, as she can duplicate herself, is a technopath, has a genius-level intellect, and radio-induced telepathy. It will be interesting to see what the engineer in Superman is capable of and how she interacts with the other characters. Why is she running across the roof of the LuthorCorp building? And what relationship, if any, does she have to Lex Luthor himself?
