These two Girl Scout cookie flavors are being discontinued this year

Girl Scout cookie season has begun, but it’s not all good news for cookie customers. Two flavors of the popular snacks will be discontinued later this year.

Fans of Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! Cookies are only available for purchase this season, the Girl Scouts said Tuesday. Girl Scouts said the cookie lineup is regularly reviewed to make room for new flavor innovations.

“The attitude of Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores could lead to something new and delicious,” said a Girl Scouts spokesperson.

The decision to have Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! Cookies come after the Girl Scouts stopped selling the popular but short-lived cookies Raspberry Rally Cookie in 2023.

This year, cookie fans can purchase Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Adventurefuls, Caramel Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Sandwich/Do-si-dos, Lemonades, Lemon-Ups, Toffee-tastic and Trefoils.

Why flavors and cookie names differ

Depending on where cookies are purchased, they may have different names. Girl Scouts works with two bakers, ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers, “whose recipes and ingredients may vary slightly,” the organization said.

“Whether the package says Peanut Butter Patties or Tagalongs or Samoas or Caramel deLites, the cookies are equally delicious,” the Girl Scouts website says.

Buyers can contact a local Girl Scout council to find out which cookies are available in their area. Availability of the soon to be discontinued S’mores and Toast-Yay! Cookies also vary depending on the customer’s location.

How to buy Girl Scout cookies

Girl Scout cookie season runs from January to April, although timing may vary depending on location. Interested buyers can contact registered Girl Scouts to learn how they sell cookies.

Hungry prospects can also check with their local government office or use the Girl Scout Cookie Finder to find a booth and purchase cookies.

Starting February 21, cookie fans can order cookies online through the Girl Scout Cookie Finder.

Why Girl Scouts Sell Cookies

The Girl Scouts Cookie Program allows Girl Scouts to “enhance their entrepreneurial skills by finding new and inventive ways to sell cookies for better future prospects,” according to the Girl Scouts website. You’ll learn about goal setting, money management, decision making, interpersonal skills, and business ethics.

“Girl Scouts Cookie Season is about so much more than just selling the iconic cookies people know and love,” said Wendy Lou, chief revenue officer for the Girl Scouts of the USA, in a press release. “The money girls earn over the course of the season directly supports their leadership careers, entrepreneurship and community building. The tremendous success of each sale is a testament to how much girls can change the world when they put their minds to it.”
