This is how the Detroit Lions can secure a spot in the playoffs in Week 13

The Detroit Lions can’t stop winning in 2024 as the team is 10-1 and has been atop the NFC North for 12 weeks. After a 1-1 start, Dan Campbell’s team has won nine games in a row and six games this season by more than double figures.

Detroit is coming off a 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, but faces a quick turnaround as the Lions will host the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day in Week 13.

Although there are still six games left, the Lions are the clear favorite to win the NFC’s No. 1 seed. The Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers will pose threats to Detroit’s quest for first place, but Dan Campbell’s unit has all the tools to be the NFC’s best team in the 2024 regular season.

The Lions’ contest against the Bears on Thursday may seem like just a normal Thanksgiving showdown between two NFC North rivals, but Detroit can actually clinch a playoff spot in Week 13.

The decision-making scenarios can be very overwhelming and complicated, but here are all the ways the Lions can secure a second straight trip to the postseason in Week 13, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Lions playoff win scenarios

1. DET win + SF loss or draw + ARI loss or draw + SEA loss + TB loss or draw

2. DET win + SF loss or draw + ARI loss + SEA draw + TB loss or draw

3. DET win + SF loss or draw + ARI loss or draw + SEA loss + WAS loss or draw + ATL loss

4. DET win + SF loss or draw + ARI loss or draw + SEA loss + WAS loss + ATL draw

5. DET win + SF loss or draw + ARI loss + SEA draw + WAS loss or draw + ATL loss

Overall, the Lions will have to take care of business on Thursday against Chicago and will need league help on Sunday to secure a playoff spot.
