Thousands turn out for First Night Hartford 2025 – NBC Connecticut

Thousands of people attended First Night Hartford 2025, one of the state’s largest New Year’s Eve parties.

“It’s fun for the children and grandchildren. It’s a nice, safe evening and we’re having a good time,” said Ron Penton of North Haven.

“We just wanted to come out and have a good time with my family, take a break from school and just have a great time,” said Jinny Summerville of Wallingford.

More than 10,000 people were expected to attend the activities, which included ice skating, carousel rides, art, music, food and more throughout downtown.

It’s the 36thTh Year for tradition.

“It’s a great opportunity for the Hartford community, but also the region, to come together,” said Jeffrey Devereux, event director for First Night Hartford.

Restaurants, including Trumbull Kitchen, were fully booked and expected to be full.

All hands have to be on board to manage the rush.

“First Night in Hartford is really a big boost. We have a lot of people coming downtown to party and experience all sorts of events. So we’re excited,” said Megan Smallidge, general manager of Trumbull Kitchen.

It is a benefit to businesses and this community that the hope of many remains well beyond the holidays.

“I hope people come out, have a great time and then come back to our restaurants, our bars and the city of Hartford. “Every month, every month, every year, we have grown in vibrancy on the streets of our downtown,” said Mayor Arunan Arulampalam (D – Hartford).
