On a jam-packed day of conference championships, college football fans already got perhaps the biggest surprise of the day: Timothée Chalamet knows his way around the ball.

Chalamet joined the desk of ESPN’s “College GameDay” in Atlanta on Saturday ahead of the SEC title game between Texas and Georgia. The Oscar-nominated actor then made a series of well-researched and well-informed decisions, much to the shock of fans and analysts.

During his appearance, Chalamet listed specific statistics and noted the teams’ progress compared to previous seasons. He mentioned lesser-known players like Ohio quarterback Parker Navarro and SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings by name.

“I want to go 6-0,” Chalamet said while making his selection.

Chalamet’s selection as guest picker, announced earlier this week, caused quite a stir: The Hollywood A-lister apparently had no ties to Texas or Georgia and had previously shown no public interest in college football. His appearance on the show seemed primarily aimed at promoting his upcoming film, A Complete Unknown. (ESPN and the film’s distributor both share the same parent company, Disney.)

But Chalamet proved all the haters wrong with a successful Guest Pick spot, showcasing the in-depth knowledge and research he did to prepare for it.

Chalamet’s selections for the day included: Jackson State over Southern (SWAC Championship), Louisiana over Marshall (Sun Bet Championship), Arizona State over Iowa State (Big 12 Championship), SMU over Clemson (ACC Championship) and Oregon over Penn State (Big Ten Championship). He was the only one on the show who chose underdog Ohio over Miami (OH) in the MAC Championship.
