Timothée Chalamet stuns fans with college football knowledge after being criticized for being named ESPN guest picker

When actor Timothée Chalamet was selected by ESPN as a special guest picker for “College GameDay” on Saturday, fans were confused because the “Dune” star had no clear connection to college football.

However, Hollywood’s star actor impressed the jury and especially the fans with his seemingly expert analysis.

“Going to Jackson State, eight straight wins, 11 all-conference players, that should be a comfortable, easy win for them,” Chalamet said in his first-round pick.

Chalamet impressed the show’s hosts with his research.

“He said I only have six games, I’m going to play all six,” said co-host Kirk Herbstreit.

When picking the Clemson-SMU ACC Championship game, the “Wonka” star pointed to SMU’s Pony Express, which was one of the greatest running attacks in college football history with Eric Dickerson and Craig James.

“Kevin Jennings is, in my humble opinion, a legitimate Heisman contender next year. I’m dressing for SMU, it smells like the 1980s guys,” Chalamet said.

When it came to picking the SEC championship game between Texas and Georgia, Chalamet made his choice with a friend in mind.

“You know it’s hard to beat the same team twice. Adjustments are made, it’s like a game of chess. Coach Saban knows this better than anyone on this podium. Listen, I’m going here with my movie dad (Matthew) McConaughey.” “I’m sorry to everyone here, this is a Longhorn, Hook’em Horn win,” Chalamet said.

Chalamet played McConaughey’s son in “Interstellar” and McConaughey is known as a huge Texas fan.

“Timothee Chalamet came prepared, did his research and referenced the Pony Express. Perhaps the best college gameday guest picker yet. New York guy. Respect,” Schrager wrote on X.

“College GameDay” took place in Atlanta, Georgia and covered the SEC Championship game between Texas and Georgia, which begins at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Chalamet stars in the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” out December 25th. Dylan himself approved the film and Chalamet sings some of Dylan’s classics in the film.
