TJ Watt comes through the Steelers’ loss with a concerning ankle injury

Things didn’t look good for TJ Watt at first.

The four-time first-team All-Pro appeared to be in rough shape after appearing to injure his foot against the Eagles on Sunday.

Watt had been running toward Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and stopped after taking an awkward step.

He was examined on the sidelines while clearly and visibly grimacing in pain, and told reporters after the game that he had twisted his ankle – and that an X-ray had come back negative.

Watt sat out the remainder of the contest, resulting in a 27-13 loss for the Steelers in Philadelphia as their record fell to 10-4.

He was unsure about his status in Week 16 against the rival Ravens.

Watt, who entered the game with 9.5 sacks in 13 starts, recorded two more and forced a fumble against the Eagles.

Now the hope is that he won’t have to miss much time as the Steelers head into the home stretch of their regular season.

With a Colts loss to the Broncos, the Steelers secured a spot in the playoffs despite losing.
