There is a “particularly dangerous” wildfire threat in Southern California this week

South California Potentially harmful effects are expected Santa Ana winds until midweek, creating a dangerous fire threat for the mountains and valleys of Los Angeles And San Diego Counties.

The National Weather Service Los Angeles has issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation Fire Warning (PDS) through Tuesday for much of the Santa Ana Wind Corridor in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The PDS warning is in effect for the Susana Mountains until Wednesday.

An intensifying shot of moisture will arrive to the south on Monday and Tuesday. While most of the rain will be beneficial, heavier and persistent rainfall could trigger flash flooding.

NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center has released a level 2 out of 4 lightning flash flood Risk to the central Gulf Coast on Monday, including New Orleans. Atlanta is included in the flood hazard on Tuesday.
