Word analysis

Every day I look at Wordle Bot to analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

I did better today than I expected. CRATE left me with 61 words, but I wasn’t sure at the time since I only had a single green “A” unlocked. I went with my second guess, BOINK, for all new letters and didn’t fare much better. One green box, one yellow box. I had no idea there were only two words left and guessed the only thing I could think of: SHAKY for the win!

I’m on the move. I get one point for guessing three and another point for beating the bot that took four tries today.

Today’s Wordle etymology

The word shaky comes from the verb shakewhich comes from Old English sceacanwhich means “to move quickly, to go away, to hurry up” or “to vibrate.” This word has its roots in Proto-Germanic skakanąwhich means “to shake, swing, or move.”

The adjective shaky originated in the 17th century to describe something unstable or trembling, both literally and figuratively, and derived its meaning from the verb’s sense of instability or vibration.
