It’s the first lazy Sunday of 2025. Huzzah! Time to sit back and relax or finish the to-do list. For many it’s back to work and back to school tomorrow, so make good use of the time you have left this holiday break!

I guessed SUGAR because I was thinking about the Apple TV show with Colin Farrell and it seemed to me that it might be a good opening guess. It wasn’t bad! I had 116 words left and I tried to think of something for the remaining vowels that didn’t use an “R” but got a little impatient and just decided on CHOIR. That’s a good thing too! Only one word remained: CYBER for victory!

I get 1 point for guessing three and another point for beating Wordle Bot, which took four tries today. Another loud huzzah!


How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing 1 is worth 3 points; guessing 2 is worth 2 points; guessing 3 is worth 1 point; guessing 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; Guessing on 6 is -2 points and missing the wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If there is a tie you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or simply play for a new score every day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running list or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle etymology

The word “Cyber” comes from Greek “kybernētēs” (κυβερνήτης)which means “helmsman” or “governor”. It came into English through the term “Cybernetics,” was coined in the 1940s by mathematician Norbert Wiener to describe the study of communication and control in machines and living organisms.

In the late 20th century, “cyber” became associated with computers, networks, and digital technologies, giving rise to terms such as “cyber.” “Cyberspace” And “Cybersecurity.”
