It’s Wordle Wednesday and that means that before we get into today’s Wordle, we have an additional puzzle to solve. Here is today’s additional challenge:

You must open a locked safe that requires a three-digit code. Here’s what you know:

  1. The sum of the three digits is 13.
  2. The first digit is twice as large as the third digit.
  3. The second digit is two smaller than the first digit.

Not bad today. SLATE wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible. With 60 words left and one green box left, I chose Geralt’s Horse for my second guess: ROACH reduced the number to three and then I chose another video game – CRACK – for my third and, as it turned out, final Supposition. It was the word! Almost like I have a knack for this game!

How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing 1 is worth 3 points; guessing 2 is worth 2 points; guessing 3 is worth 1 point; guessing 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; Guessing on 6 is -2 points and missing the wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If there is a tie you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or simply play for a new score every day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running list or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle etymology

The word “Talent” comes from the Middle English word knak (14th century), meaning “a sharp sound.” Its meaning evolved in the 16th century to “a clever or skillful trick or device.” The term probably has Scandinavian roots and is related to Old Norse crackkrwhich means “small hump or projection” and suggests something specific or skillful.
