Tom Brady, limited partner of the Raiders, is said to be instrumental in selecting Las Vegas’ next quarterback

The Raiders have rotated quarterbacks this season. They began the offseason by acquiring Gardner Minshew to start the season before injuries forced them to switch between him and Aidan O’Connell. On Monday, Las Vegas could have its third quarterback of the season in the starting lineup, Desmond Ridder.

The results were poor. Through 14 weeks, Las Vegas ranks 16th in passing offense (2,911 yards) but is tied for 26th in touchdowns (14) and interceptions (13).

In 2025, Minshew, O’Connell and Carter Bradley are all under contract, but with the Raiders in prime position to go in the top five of the draft, the QB of their immediate future may not be on their roster.

Brady has been very busy in his post-playing career, balancing his foray into team ownership with a broadcasting career at FOX and other business opportunities. But he has never been involved in football operations at any level.

It’s unclear what Brady’s relationship with Las Vegas’ current decision-making apparatus will be. Davis hired front-office veteran Tom Telesco as the Raiders’ general manager last winter and promoted Antonio Pierce to full-time head coach after he temporarily took over for Josh McDaniels, who happened to be (or not) Brady’s former offensive coordinator in New England.

It’s obvious that 47-year-old Brady will be at Davis’ side in some capacity as owner Las Vegas regains prominence in the coming seasons.

“It’s part of building the infrastructure of the organization that we didn’t have – a football person on the side who isn’t a coach or a manager. Someone who can see the whole picture,” Davis told reporters this week via the Las Vegas Review Journal. “And I believe that in time Tom will be the person who can do that.”
