Tom Hanks’ son Chet’s childhood neighborhood burned down in the Palisades Fire

Chet Hanks mourned the loss of his childhood home on Instagram as the Palisades wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area.

“The neighborhood I grew up in is burning to the ground,” the 34-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson wrote in a message Tuesday, as the fire continues to wreak havoc across Los Angeles County.

“Pray for the Palisades,” Chet added alongside a praying hands emoji.

Chet grew up in Los Angeles with his famous parents and younger brother Truman, 29. He also has two half-siblings, Colin, 47, and Elizabeth, 42, from his father’s previous marriage to Samantha Lewes.

Chet currently lives in Nashville.

According to the Daily Mail, his parents purchased a 14,513-square-foot mansion in Pacific Palisades for $26 million in 2010.

Tom, 68, and Wilson, 68, have not yet publicly commented on the wildfire. They were most likely forced to evacuate.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that 70,000 people in Los Angeles need to be evacuated due to the three separate wildfires that devastated Southern California.

Many LA-based celebrities are among the evacuees.

Ben Affleck was spotted fleeing his $20.5 million Pacific Palisades home on Tuesday. TMZ reported that the 52-year-old actor visited his ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s nearby home. He purchased the residence after his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.

Mandy Moore confirmed that she and her three children were staying at a friend’s house after their Pasadena home was evacuated.

“We pray for everyone in our beautiful city. I am so saddened by the destruction and loss. I don’t know if our place made it,” the “This Is Us” star wrote on Instagram.

Eugene Levy told the Los Angeles Times that he ran into the traffic of other fleeing residents trying to leave the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

“The smoke over Temescal Canyon looked pretty black and intense,” said the 78-year-old “American Pie” star. “I couldn’t see any flames, but the smoke was very dark.”

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, meanwhile, lost their Pacific Palisades home in the massive fire, just hours after Pratt shared a video on Instagram of a plane dropping water on the nearby flames.

Pratt, who has two young sons with his wife, later posted a clip showing their house going up in flames. “The nightmare came true,” he wrote.

Other celebrities who live in the area include Mark Hamill, Bradley Cooper, Reese Witherspoon, Miles Teller, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston and Michael Keaton.

So far, at least two people have died in the fires and at least 1,000 buildings have burned down in the area.
