Zendaya and Tom Holland are reportedly headed to the altar!

The actors, who met while playing love interests Peter Parker and MJ in the Spider-Man franchise, are engaged, according to reports from TMZ and People magazine.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Holland and Zendaya for confirmation.

Rumors that the actors were a couple circulated for years before their romance was confirmed in 2021, and reports of a future wedding increased when Zendaya showed up to the Golden Globes wearing jewelry that looked suspiciously like an engagement ring.

2017: Dating rumors spread between Tom Holland and Zendaya at the premiere of the first “Spider-Man” film

Holland and Zendaya met while working on the Marvel film Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was released in July 2017.

Their characters weren’t romantic partners in the film, but the film ended with the reveal that Zendaya’s Michelle was based on Mary Jane Watson and teased that she would be dating Holland’s Peter Parker in a future film.

The same month the film was released, People magazine reported that Zendaya and Holland were dating. A source told the magazine, “They started seeing each other while filming ‘Spider-Man.'” They were very careful to keep it private and out of the public eye, but they did go on vacation together and “We tried to spend as much time together as possible.”

But Holland and Zendaya denied the report on social media at the time.

“Wait, wait… my favorite is when it says we’re going on vacation together, HA! I haven’t been on vacation in years!” Zendaya posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Count the press tour,” Holland joked.

Zendaya later told Variety in August 2017 that she and Holland were not together. “We are friends,” she said. “He’s a great guy. He’s literally one of my best friends.”

In September of this year, Holland wished Zendaya a happy birthday on Instagram, referring to her as a “buddy.” In December, Us Weekly reported that Holland had dinner with Zendaya and her parents. A source said: “They are still seeing each other, it’s been about a year.”

After the two denied their relationship for years, paparazzi photos published by Page Six in July 2021 showed them kissing in a car. “Zendaya and Tom Holland Finally Confirmed They’re Dating in Hot Car Makeout,” the headline read.

Two months later, Holland shared a photo of herself with Zendaya on Instagram and wrote, “My MJ, I wish you a happy birthday. Call me when you’re ready by xxx.”

In an interview with GQ published in November, the actor said he and Zendaya felt “robbed of our privacy.”

“One of the downsides of our fame is that we can no longer really control privacy and a moment that you thought was between two people who love each other very much is now a moment that you share with the whole world.” , says he said.

Holland added, “I’ve always been careful to keep my personal life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway.”

In a romantic Instagram post in June 2022, Zendaya paid tribute to Holland on his birthday, writing, “Happy birthday to the one who makes me the happiest <3."

She also shared a black and white photo of them hugging. The post has garnered more than 26 million likes on the platform.

2023: Tom Holland and Zendaya on the privacy of their relationship

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2023, Holland declined to go into detail about his relationship with Zendaya, telling the medium, “Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and want to keep as sacred as possible.
