The Clemson Tigers were able to secure a win over the SMU Mustangs in the ACC Title Game, which ended up being an excellent game.

For much of the game it looked like the Tigers had the Mustangs well under control. Clemson was able to get an early lead. However, SMU deserves a lot of credit for not giving up as they chipped away at the lead.

The Mustangs equalized with just 16 seconds left. However, a 56-yard field goal by Nolan Hauser at the buzzer gave Clemson the victory and sent them to the College Football Playoff.

The win featured many players who did great things for the Tigers. Here are some of the players who played a key role in the win.

The Clemson senior tight end had a very strong game against conference opponents to close out his career. In the win, the 6-foot-1 tight end scored two touchdowns, one in the first quarter and one in the third. Briningstool was a model of consistency in the passing offense and it was a very good game for the senior.

It was Clemson’s defense that got the team going early as they were able to slow down a talented Mustangs offense. Leading the defense was TJ Parker, who totaled eight tackles, one sack and 3.5 tackles for a loss. The Tigers knew they had to focus on stopping the run in this game and they did a good job slowing down Brashard Smith and Kevin Jennings on the ground.

Sometimes in big games the player isn’t expected to shine as players can excel in big moments. That’s exactly what freshman wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. did on Saturday night. It was the best game of his young career as he totaled eight receptions, 143 yards and two touchdowns. It was a new career high for Wesco across the board, and it came at a great time.

It was a great game from Clemson’s junior quarterback as he helped set the tone right from the start. Klubnik had three touchdown passes in the first quarter, making some excellent throws to give the Tigers their first momentum. In a duel between two very good quarterbacks, the Clemson quarterback did not disappoint in one of the biggest games of his career. Overall, he completed a strong performance with 262 passing yards and four touchdowns.
