The North Carolina Tar Heels will soon learn their fate as basketball’s top 2025 recruiting target. And it seems to be a must for Hubert Davis and his staff.

On Tuesday, No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa will officially commit to a program and end his recruitment during ESPN’s “First Take” morning show. Dybantsa said Monday he was ready to make an announcement.

As for contenders, he recently whittled his offer list down to the final four, focusing on North Carolina, BYU, Alabama and Kansas. His recruitment has been relatively quiet, with BYU receiving a Crystal Ball prediction from 247Sports a few months ago.

Since then, however, that prediction has evaporated, and both UNC and Alabama are rumored to have gained some ground. His father, Ace, was also in attendance at the Tar Heels’ big game against the Crimson Tide at the Dean Dome last week.

It’s hard to say who’s really at the forefront of this recruitment, and since it’s so quiet, there’s really no way to get a good look at it. But it’s safe to say UNC will learn its fate in less than 24 hours and they’re hoping to add to their two-player class for the 2025 cycle.
