Hello folks, I’m Chief Meteorologist RB Bobby, the 4029tv.com forecast for this Wednesday, January 8th and, uh, folks, the snow is coming. Uh, we’re all going to get snow. We will all have snow accumulations, more specifically split snow, as one might put it. Whatever the case, it should occur anywhere in northwest Arkansas in the river valley. The highest totals will be in the River Valley, particularly south of Fort Smith. We’re all going to get one hell of a gathering across the region. In fact, most of Arkansas and most of Oklahoma. So travel and travel in Missouri. Is this going to be tough across the area Thursday night into Thursday afternoon and, um, Friday afternoon if this somehow gets out? Things are looking pretty good now, there’s not much going on this evening. Temperatures drop pretty quickly, skies are clear, teenagers wake up and 8pm as the clouds increase. We don’t think there’s anything going on at 6 o’clock in the morning, but as early as 8 or 9 o’clock in the morning, uh, maybe as far north as Fort Smith, but certainly south of Fort Smith where we’ll see some snow and then. Across the river valley I see it’s snowing around midday, certainly even east of Fort Smith, I think, um, not quite NWA yet. Some of it could reach southern Washington County and southern Madison County by early afternoon. Benton County, it will be late afternoon or early evening from what it looks like now. The air is drier over Benton County, but. Uh, we’ll all be dealing with the snow tomorrow evening, if not sooner than early morning in many cases. Uh, temperatures stay below freezing for the most part. Some areas could get a little above freezing for *** time tomorrow during the day, but when this all comes in we’ll all be below freezing. At first *** there might have been a few sleeping pellets mixed in * ** At first a bit of that bullhead, those tiny snowballs, but. There will be mostly snow throughout the area, which makes things a little easier. Generally it’s easy to travel when it’s just snowing, but there’s going to be a heck of a lot of snow here. You can see that some of the heaviest snowfall is still happening, probably between midnight and 6 o’clock on Friday, and then between 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock on Friday, that’s all kind of exciting in terms of the total amount, uh, the Area. You know, generally we’re dealing with about 3 to 62 to 6 in northwest Arkansas, the lower the totals the further northwest you go, um, the higher the totals the further south you go in northwest Arkansas on average , but there will be some bands there that, as you know, can result in higher totals in one area and lower totals in others, um, and that will occur in northwest Arkansas. It will occur in the river valley. However, our overall size will generally be in the 4 to 8 inch range. These higher final totals could occur anywhere. They’re more likely to move further south, especially in the Scott portions of Flo County, and there could even be some totals over eight inches, er, south of Fort Smith. There will be some of the highest totals in central Arkansas. That still seems to be the case, but we’ll all get through it. ***A fair amount of snow and travel will be difficult across the area Thursday through Friday. Now, late Friday afternoon, it’s all out and maybe *** a few peaks of sunshine, but not much, probably not much above freezing, probably not at all in northwest Arkansas, *** a little bit in the river valley, but, uh, not a lot and then the temperatures. It crashed again pretty quickly on Friday evening. So we’ll talk about the rest of the weekend forecast. There’s still a heck of a lot to do and more details on the rest of the 7-day forecast and updates to the total snowfall forecast. Snow levels will be forecast for you immediately in our newscast tonight and we will update as new data comes in. So I hope you can join us on the CW at 9pm on 456 and 10 on 4029.
