Traffic restrictions and closures this weekend for the biennial Tempe Festival of the Arts

The Tempe Festival of the Arts returns to downtown Tempe this weekend, December 6-8, where more than 350 artists will showcase their creations in wood, ceramics, jewelry, photography and wearable art.

There will also be a variety of food and drink vendors as well as live entertainment. Admission is free and dog and child friendly.

The event takes place on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An event of this size can cause traffic jams. Here you will find an overview of the road closures in the region. All road and property closures began Thursday and will be lifted at 5 a.m. Monday.

Festival visitors are asked to use public transport if possible.

Maple Ave

Portions of Maple Avenue are closed including:

  • Seventh Street between Mill and Maple Avenues

  • Maple Avenue between Fifth and Seventh Streets

  • Fourth Street west of Mill to Maple Avenue

Mill Avenue

Most of the closures this weekend will be on or around Mill Avenue:

  • Mill Avenue between Fifth Street and University Drive

  • Mill Avenue from Rio Salado Parkway to Fifth Street

  • Seventh Street east of Mill Avenue to Westin Alley

  • Sixth Street on both sides of Mill Avenue

  • Fifth Street from Mill to Myrtle Avenue

  • Third Street from Mill to Ash Avenue (closed during peak Sunday evenings only)

Parking lot closures

The 440 S. Mill Ave. Surface Lot (at Hackett House) is closed.

The West Town Hall parking lot is also closed.
