I think that’s still there. We’ll have to wait for the second season, but you can see the characters almost transition into the world of work and their personal lives. The curiosity doesn’t subside. It’s more about their characteristics than the memories.”

Tramell Tillman compares “severance pay” to the corporate world

Severance pay debuted on Apple TV+ on February 18, 2022, with nine episodes ending in April of the same year. The series was such a masterpiece that it not only received critical acclaim, but also received fourteen Emmy nominations and won in two categories. Tillman explained the plot of the first season as follows:

“Look at Season 1: How many times did the innkeepers get distracted with each other? It is the desire to connect. We are not islands. We all need some level of companionship, in whatever sense. This desire, this need for a sense of community and camaraderie is so important. And Milchick knows this, which is why he creates these incentives. He has the melon party, the egg bar, the dance experience, because all of these increase productivity.”

Earlier in the interview, the actor also noted that, based on his experience in corporate America, he understands the need for workers to spend their personal lives outside of the office. For him it’s very similar what happened in severance pay, as he underscored:

“I think this is very similar to the severance pay process. There’s no chip in your head. And I think we all do this in many ways, keeping certain aspects of our humanity from other levels. That could be the appeal of this show because it’s a human quality.”

The second season of Severance pay Premieres January 17, 2025. Season 1 is streaming on Apple TV+.
