Trey McBride of the Cardinals finally has a receiving TD in 2024!

The drought is over! Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride finally has a receiving touchdown in 2024.

After failing to find the end zone in his first 16 weeks in the air, the third-year pro ended his streak of no touchdowns in the third quarter of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

And boy, did it take a long time?

With 8:31 left in the third quarter, McBride found a one-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyler Murray.

Going into Saturday’s game, the tight end’s outstanding season was just missing touchdowns. Although he posted a team-high 98 catches (128 targets) en route to his first 1,000-yard season, the results just weren’t there.

At least through the air.

“That’s a weird statistic because he’s going crazy,” quarterback Kyler Murray said on Dec. 4 when asked about McBride’s touchdown drought.

“I think we had a few opportunities, didn’t connect, but no, that’s definitely going to happen.”

While the 2022 second-round pick didn’t find the end zone as a pass catcher, he does have fumble recoveries (Week 2) and rushing touchdowns (Week 9) to his name this year.

And its impact, with or without points, cannot be underestimated.

“A lot of the passing game goes through him. The running game is fantastic. … Every game he’s out there, he’s doing his best and he’s an impact player,” head coach Jonathan Gannon said last week. “He really is. When the ball goes to him, he makes a lot of plays.”

Along with the score, McBride finished the night with 12 catches for 123 yards.
