Trisha Paytas joins Paul Mescal in a hilarious Spotify Wrapped sketch for 2024 on SNL

Internet personality Trisha Paytas made an unexpected appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in a humorous sketch based around Paul Mescal’s “Spotify Wrapped for 2024.” The post poked fun at Mescal’s unique taste in music and revealed that his most listened to artist was a fictional “anti-“instrumentalist sound guru” named Satoshi Gutman, portrayed by Bowen Yang.

Mescal’s Spotify Wrapped illuminated over 170,000 minutes spent listening to Gutman’s edgy soundscapes. In the skit, Mescal’s friends, played by Andrew Dismukes, Ego Nwodim and Sarah Sherman, reacted in disbelief, prompting Mescal to share a video of Gutman performing his song “Y’all Made Me Celibate.” Sporting a Targaryen-inspired wig and goatee, Gutman’s eccentric performance and his fan base – whom he humorously calls “bastards” – added to the comedy.

Building on Gutman’s strange personality, the skit introduced his podcast “Awakenings,” which featured Trisha Paytas as a guest. Paytas greeted the audience with a spirited “Hey bastards!” and joined Gutman in singing her signature line, “The best money is celibacy.” Their whimsical interplay heightened the absurdity and perfectly matched the sketch’s playful tone.

Mescal defended his Spotify Wrapped decisions, emphasizing individuality and self-expression. “Spotify Wrapped isn’t about judging people,” he explained. “It’s about sharing the soundtrack of your life.” The scene ended with a surprise personal visit from Gutman and Paytas, providing an incredibly bizarre conclusion.

The skit was well received by audiences, who praised the mix of satire and pop culture commentary. Clips of the segment went viral on social media, highlighting SNL’s continued ability to infuse humor into modern trends while connecting with audiences.
