Trump announces that the Gulf of Mexico will have a new, pro-American name

President-elect Trump announced that the Gulf of Mexico will be given a new name.

“We will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring. “That covers a lot of territory,” Trump said on Tuesday. “The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. And it’s fitting.”

Trump made the announcement in his first press conference since Congress certified his election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday. He opened the press event by announcing that DAMAC Properties would invest $20 billion in new data centers across the country and previewed a number of policy issues ahead of his inauguration this month.

The Gulf of Mexico is a partially enclosed sea that borders states such as Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, as well as Mexico.

Trump has described Canada as the “51st.” “State” of the country, while his son and other Trump allies traveled to Greenland this week after Trump repeatedly called for the U.S. to acquire the autonomous territory under the Kingdom of Denmark.

“As someone who has traveled to some amazing places around the world as a nature lover, I’m excited to head to Greenland this week for a little fun,” Donald Trump Jr. told Fox News Digital about his trip to Greenland.

A familiar source told Fox News Digital that Trump Jr. is “stopping by for a quick day trip to film some fun video content for podcasts.” Trump Jr. will not meet with government officials while in Greenland, Fox Digital previously reported.
