President-elect Donald Trump said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday that his inaugural address will focus on unity, delivering his message to Americans who did not support him on Election Day.

“I will treat you just as well as I treated the biggest MAGA supporters,” Trump said when asked what he wanted to say to the people who didn’t vote for him.

Trump sat down with NBC News’ Kristen Welker on Sunday for his first major interview since winning the presidential election. Trump had already accompanied Welker for an interview in September 2023 and was the NBC host’s first guest after she took over from longtime host Chuck Todd.

“These people are so committed to making America great again, it’s that simple. And I will treat them the same way I treat MAGA. We will treat everyone well. We want success for our country, we want security for our country,” the president-elect added.

WHAT TRUMP TOLD CANADA’S LEADER BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Trump emphasized curbing crime and said the U.S. was “in danger.” The president-elect also said he wanted to improve the country’s reputation.

“I want to treat everyone equally. I want to treat them well,” Trump added.

“But we have to catch our country’s criminals. We have to curb crime. People need to be able to walk across the street and buy a loaf of bread without being shot. And that’s what will happen. But what I say to that.” They are: “I love you, and we’re going to get it together. And do you know what will make it successful?”

Trump also told Welker that his inaugural address would focus on a message of unity.

“It will be a message of unity and I think success brings unity. And that’s what I experienced. I experienced it in my first term, as I said. We will talk about unity, and we will talk about how to protect our country. I know that doesn’t sound nice, but we have to do it. Basically, it will be about “bringing our country together,” Trump said in the preview of his address.

Trump met with MSNBC hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, some of his biggest critics in the media, after his victory. He recently spoke to Fox News Digital about his second term.

“To make America great again, it is very important, if not vital, to have a free, fair and open media or press,” Trump said.

“I received a call from Joe Scarborough requesting a meeting for him and Mika, and I agreed that it would be a good thing if such a meeting took place,” Trump said. “We met at Mar-a-Lago at 8 a.m. Friday morning.”

Trump said the meeting was “extremely cordial.”

“A lot of things were discussed and I really appreciated that they wanted open communication,” he said. “In many ways it’s a shame it hasn’t happened long ago.”
