Trump Tower fire: Police are investigating the explosion of a Tesla cybertruck at a hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a possible terrorist attack

LAS VEGAS – Authorities are investigating Wednesday’s explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump Las Vegas Hotel in Nevada as a possible act of terrorism.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said it was investigating a fire at the entrance to the tower. The public was told to avoid the area, but police noted the fire had been extinguished.

According to an official, the driver pulled into the hotel’s valet parking area and the vehicle exploded. The driver is apparently dead and so far the only person injured in the incident. Seven passers-by suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

Investigators don’t know what caused the explosion, such as whether there was something wrong with the vehicle or whether something external was the trigger. The main focus of the investigation is to find out what was behind the explosion.

An official briefed on the investigation told ABC News that the Tesla Cybertruck was carrying a load of firework-like mortars. Investigators are urgently working to determine the motive and whether the driver intended to cause an explosion and why.

Until a motive is established and other possibilities are ruled out, police are treating the explosion as a possible crime and a possible act of terrorism. The collection of evidence and the investigation are ongoing.

While police continue to investigate whether the incident was a malicious act, the sheriff said he does not believe there is any further threat to the community.

“We believe everything is safe now,” said Sheriff Kevin McMahill.

But he warned the public to stay away, saying: “We don’t know what we don’t know.”

The property is often the subject of threats and increased security due to its connection to President-elect Donald Trump.

Eric Trump, his son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, posted about the incident on social media.

“Today there was a reported electric vehicle fire at the Trump Las Vegas Porte Cochère,” he wrote. “The safety and well-being of our guests and employees remains our top priority. We wholeheartedly thank the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their quick response and professionalism.”

The hotel also issued a statement to X stating that the car in question was an electric car.

“Today there was a reported electric vehicle fire in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas,” the hotel wrote. “The security The well-being of our guests and employees remains our top priority. We thank the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their quick response.”
