TV actress from “Star Trek” and “Falcon Crest” was 70

Jill Jacobson, an actress who has had roles in two series Star Trek shows, Falcon Crest And The new gadgethas died. She was 70.

Jacobson died Dec. 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center after a long illness, her friend Dan Harary said The Hollywood Reporter.

Jacobson played the scheming private detective Erin Jones in 22 episodes Falcon Crest From 1985 to 1987, the CBS primetime soap about a wealthy Californian wine family. At the same time she played the role of Larue Wilson The new gadget from 1986–87, a sequel to the 1960s ABC sitcom directed by Sally Field about a teenage surfer.

Her other TV appearances included Hung, Newhart, Castle, Who’s the Boss?, Quantum Leap, Crazy Like a Fox, Arliss And Murphy Brown and a supporting role in Ron Howard’s 1984 film, Squirt.

In recent years, Jacobson has been a familiar face in Los Angeles. The improvisation And The Comedy Store, where she did stand-up performances.

Jacobson grew up in Beaumont, Texas and Dallas and was the daughter of Dr. Harry Jacobson and Carol Toplitz Jacobson Hornstein. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she received a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film performance before moving to Los Angeles and being cast in the title role of a cult classic film Sister Sherri.

Jacobson has been a speaker and honoree for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society. “She will be greatly missed by many relatives, friends and her beloved dogs Benny and Kowalski,” Harary said.
