Series history: The Jackets lead the series 20-15-3, a streak that dates back to an 1892 meeting in Atlanta. The two teams have met only four times since 2002, after both programs were members of the SEC until Tech became independent in 1964. Tech’s first game as an independent club was on September 19, 1964 against the Commodores.

Tech also hosted Vandy’s homecoming once (October 25, 1952), and its win over the ‘Dores on August 31, 2002 was the broadcast’s 400th.

The Jackets haven’t lost to Vanderbilt since 1941. Since then, they have gone 12-0-1 – the two teams tied 10-10 in 1965.

Tech and Vandy have not faced each other since a meeting in 2016 in which the Jackets won 38-7 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Since then, Tech has held the rivalry’s unofficial Cowbell Trophy.
