Twins is listed as a potential landing spot for a high-leverage left-handed hitter

The Minnesota Twins were in control of the final wild card spot in the American League for much of September. but he ultimately broke down and watched the Detroit Tigers storm past them.

This winter the twins have some questions to answer. They could potentially use some help in their bullpen.

Yardbarker’s David Hill listed three possible landing spots for veteran left-hander Aroldis Chapman, and the Twins were on the list.

“There were many reasons why the Minnesota Twins imploded in the final two months of the 2024 season. The Twins’ bullpen was a significant part of the problem, their ERA of 4.50 from August 1 through the end of the season ranked 23rd on the season. “Majors,” Hill wrote.

“Left-handed releases have been a sore spot for the Twins throughout the season. The Twins’ left-handed relievers ranked last in the majors with a 5.75 ERA and 28th with a .328 batting average on balls they faced. The Twins depth chart

Currently, Kody Funderburk is the only lefty in the bullpen. Since Funderburk posted a 6.49 ERA and 1.615 WHiP in his 34.2 innings, another left-handed reliever would make sense. Chapman could play the role the Twins need.

Chapman posted a 5-5 record, posting a 3.79 ERA and recording 14 saves in 68 appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2024. He could be a solid addition to Minnesota’s bullpen.

Placing him next to Jhoan Duran could give the Twins a strong back-end duo and position them to make some big improvements in 2025.

It will be interesting to see if the Twins play for Chapman.
