Two men died and two were hospitalized after an early morning shooting in downtown Lake Worth Beach

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a shooting at a bar in downtown Lake Worth Beach left two men dead and two others injured, sparking an investigation by Palm Beach County sheriff’s investigators.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), four men were shot at The Rock Irish Pub, 614 Lake Avenue, around 1 a.m.

Officials reported two of the men were taken to a local hospital: one with life-threatening injuries and the other in stable condition.

Unfortunately, the other two men involved were pronounced dead at the scene, PBSO confirmed.

A witness told CBS12 News that the group of men who were shot consisted of their colleagues from the Old Key Lime House in Lantana. She explained that she and her colleagues were hosting a Christmas party at Lilo’s Streetfood and Bar in Lake Worth Beach. The party started at Lilo’s on Monday evening around 9 p.m. When that party ended around midnight, several Old Key Lime House employees walked down the street to another bar, the Rock Irish Pub, to keep the party going and play pool.

“I went outside for a moment. When I came back I saw the police pull up, I immediately ran in and saw two of our colleagues lying dead on the ground, one in pretty bad shape, the other had already run away “But four people were shot,” said Jackie Slattery, one Victim’s friend.

PBSO responded to The Rock Irish Pub around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to PBSO, some sort of altercation occurred, an argument in the bar, that led to the shooting.

“After a night of celebrating Christmas together, enjoying all the fruits of life and the good times, this absolute tragedy occurs. Some hideous monster,” said Ryan Cordero, owner of Old Key Lime House. “The person who did this is a hideous monster?” we asked him. “Absolutely, he killed two innocent people,” Cordero said.

Cordero said the Old Key Lime House employs about 200 full- and part-time workers. He says he still cannot understand the tragedy.

“What would you say to the person who did this?” We asked Cordero. “I hope you rot in hell. You constantly feel like you’re about to wake up and it’s just a little nightmare or something. It’s that you can’t understand it yet. It’s not real yet,” Cordero said.

PBSO says the two shooting victims are in the hospital. One is in critical condition. The other is in stable condition. The Rock Irish Pub is open for business. An employee said he had no comment. PBSO has not released information about a possible motive for the shooting.
