Ty Johnson’s catch and run brings Bills closer to Rams

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – The Buffalo Bills responded quickly after giving up a touchdown on a blocked punt, scoring a 41-yard touchdown on a short pass from quarterback Josh Allen to running back Ty Johnson.

The result was Allen’s 250th career touchdown pass and the longest play of Johnson’s six-year career.

Johnson’s score came on the fourth play of the drive after the Bills lost 17-7 on a blocked punt. On first-and-10 from the Rams’ 41-yard line, Allen immediately came under pressure after the ball was snapped. He faked right to wide receiver Khalil Shakir, then looked left and passed the ball to nearby Johnson, who was just over five yards behind the line of scrimmage.

With the help of blocks from center Connor McGovern, left guard David Edwards and wide receiver Mack Hollins, Johnson got past defenders and ran up the sideline into the end zone to make the game 17-14.
