Tyler Perry has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. With popular projects like The Six Triple Eight, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and House of Payne on the big and small screen, the multifaceted writer/director/producer/actor has a net worth of 1.4 a year 2024 billion dollars, according to Forbes.

With such wealth, one would think that his only son Aman would be living a pretty relaxed life these days. But Perry says he’s not trying to raise a spoiled, entitled brat. Instead, he insists on doing everything he can to ensure the ten-year-old remains humble.

Perry recently shared his approach to parenting Meet talk show host Sherri Shepherd on her show “Sherri.” This shows that Aman’s Christmas list was pretty simple this year.

“He gets two things. He gets books and LEGOs.” Perry said.

As Shepherd and members of her audience reacted in shock, Perry redoubled his efforts, reminding everyone that Aman doesn’t exactly earn his own income.

“He doesn’t have a job. What else does he get?” he said.

If you didn’t know Tyler Perry was a father, you’re not alone. Perry does his best to keep Aman, who was born in November 2014, out of the spotlight. Although Perry and his mother — model/filmmaker/activist Gelila Bekele — split in 2020, they are on the same page when it comes to co-parenting, especially when it comes to letting Aman fly as a coach.

“Absolutely, so he understands, I was working. He didn’t do it,” Perry told Shepherd. “So if he works, he can learn that lesson. He won’t be one of those ridiculous, spoiled, rich kids. I can’t stand this.”
