UConn lost three straight to its opponents at the Maui Invitational last week.

It started with an overtime loss to No. 16 Memphis, followed by a 1-point loss to Colorado and ended with an 18-point Dayton win.

The Huskies bounced back with a blowout win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday.

As of Monday, they were 5-3 this season.

Their next opponent is No. 17 Baylor on Wednesday in Storrs.

For the women’s team it’s exactly the opposite. They are the second-best team in the country, receiving seven first-place votes behind UCLA and ahead of former No. 1 team South Carolina.

UConn defeated Oregon State and Ole Miss and won the Baha Mar women’s championship in the Bahamas last week. They will be back on the court Tuesday when they face Holy Cross.

Star and potential No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers was also named Big East Player of the Week. She averaged 26 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals during that period.

The football team ended its remarkable season with a road win over rival UMass on Saturday.

They finished with a record of 8-4, which was not expected at the start of the campaign. Last season the team only won three games.

Those eight wins put the Huskies in a really good position for a bowl game. However, as this is an independent team, the selection will be small.

They are one of 82 teams granted bowl eligibility for this season.
