Louisville assistant basketball coach Thomas Carr was the scout for the Cardinals’ Thanksgiving Day game against West Virginia in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals.

Before tipoff, he told radio play-by-play announcer Jody Demling, “In tournament-like environments like this, your culture wins.”

After trailing for nearly 25 minutes and trailing by as many as 11 points, U of L (5-1) battled back and defeated the Mountaineers (4-2) 79-70 in overtime to clinch the championship game Friday at Atlantis Paradise Island Resort reach the Bahamas.

The Cards scored nine unanswered points in 1 minute, 36 seconds, turning a 50-45 deficit at the nine-minute mark of the second half into a 54-50 lead with 7:24 minutes to play. When WVU responded with a basket that tied them within two minutes, they jumped out to a 7-0 lead and took their largest lead of the afternoon at that point, 59-52.
