Update on Dolphins out wide after horrific incident vs. Texans

The Dolphins’ playoff hopes suffered a major setback on Sunday, but that wasn’t Miami’s biggest concern after their Week 15 loss at Houston.

The focus was on Grant DuBose, who left the NRG Stadium turf on a stretcher in the third quarter. DuBose was attempting to intercept a pass from Tua Tagovailoa when he took a massive hit up the middle from Texas safety Calen Bullock. The game was stopped for about 12 minutes while medical professionals tended to the second-year wideout, whose jersey was cut off and his helmet was removed before he left the stadium.

The Dolphins issued a statement shortly after the incident, announcing that DuBose was in stable condition when he arrived at a nearby hospital. After the game, Miami head coach Mike McDaniel announced that there had been “positive feedback” on the scans of DuBose’s head and neck, but the 23-year-old remained in Houston overnight to undergo further evaluation, ESPN reported.

Sunday marked DuBose’s third game with the Dolphins, who claimed the 2023 seventh-round pick off waiver in late August after being released by the Green Bay Packers. The Charlotte native hadn’t played since Week 2 when he suffered a shoulder injury that placed him on injured reserve.
