Update on Kenneth Walker and other news from Mike Macdonald’s Monday press conference

Macdonald has not reported any other injuries related to the game, but one player whose recovery is being monitored this week is fullback Uchenna Nwosu, who returned from a hamstring injury that forced him on injured reserve and played 21 of 70 defensive snaps has.

“It was great to have him out there,” Macdonald said. “He played really hard. We’re still working on a plan to get back into the game, so that will continue this week. We’ll see by the end of the week whether we’re at full capacity or not Sunday, but we’re just excited to have him back and then his role here will grow as we move forward. But we’re happy to have him back.

Going back to the performance in the run game, a big factor was the play of the offensive line, which had its best game of the season, and part of that improvement was the emergence of rookie guard Sataoa Laumea, who was making his second start of the season .

“I thought he played a really good game of football,” Macdonald said. “You can showcase all your talents. He saw some confidence. I thought he played well in the (New York Jets) game too. Like I said, he’s had a bit of a slow start that way, but we spoke about it yesterday after the game, but just the continuity at the top and the same five guys. Not only does Taoa do all the reps, but it’s also all the other guys across from him that Olu (Oluwatimi) usually communicates with and he has Abe (Lucas) has an unbroken streak here. So I think all of those things contribute to the guys playing well.”
