The No. 5 Texas Longhorns will face the No. 4 Arizona State Sun Devils in the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl on Jan. 1. A spot in the CFP semifinals is at stake.

Urban Meyer, a former college football head coach and current CFB analyst on FOX, believes Texas will clinch a spot in the CFP semifinals. Meyer attributes Texas’ win to their dominance at the line of scrimmage. He pointed out that Texas has an advantage over Arizona State on both offense and defense, comparing them to a “saw” that can’t overcome ASU. Meyers shared these opinions on his podcast.

The Longhorns have become one of the most dominant units in the country this season. Named Joe Moore Award semifinalists, the Longhorns’ top five were instrumental in leading Texas into the top-tier offensive league.

“The higher you start, the more competitive the games become. A lot of times the skills level out a little bit, unless you just have absolute freak-freak skill, because it becomes a field position game. Meyers added.

Led by linemen Kelvin Banks Jr., Jake Majors and Cam Williams, the Longhorns’ offensive line has garnered not only national recognition but individual accolades as well. Each player earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors this season. Banks, a cornerstone of the line, is expected to be selected as a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Arizona State’s offensive line has also stood out, allowing just 18 sacks this season and allowing a ground attack to average nearly 200 rushing yards per game. Still, Texas stands out for its ability to protect the quarterback and dominate the trenches.

The Texas Longhorns and Arizona State Sundevils will face off in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes Benz Stadium on New Year’s Day at noon CT on ESPN.
