USAA Extends Deal as Primary Sponsor of Army-Navy Game: “The Best of America and College Football”

USAA Extends Deal as Primary Sponsor of Army-Navy Game: “The Best of America and College Football”

The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) announced Friday that it has extended its contract to continue as the primary sponsor of the famed Army-Navy game.

The announcement comes the day before the 125th inter-affiliation game, which will be played in Landover, Maryland, just outside the state capital, as USAA continues to be the first and only presenting sponsor since 2009.

The new deal will extend through the 2030 game.

“We are so excited. We have been working with the academies for a long time. “It’s an opportunity to promote the game and show what’s right and best about America and college football,” USAA CEO Wayne Peacock said in an interview with FOX Business. “It’s really special, it was a natural fit for us and just the right time to extend the partnership and continue to show our commitment to the academies as they continue to grow their brands and work on recruiting across the country.”

The deal comes at the perfect time as this may be the best fight between the two academies in a long time. It’s common to see low-scoring games, but with Army at the national level and Navy at 8-3, there could be some points on the line.

Peacock even joked that fans might forget that they were watching the Army and Navy on Saturday.

“Both bring a strong offense to the game. It shouldn’t just be the normal duel, but this year one with more excitement on the offensive. I think it will be a spectacular spectacle on Saturday,” Peacock said, although he has stopped short of making an official prediction (he said he was 0-1 and left it at that).

He also praised the academies for emphasizing teamwork.

“There is only one-way access to the Army and Navy,” Peacock said. “But what they find are these student-athletes who want to play, but also want to do something more than just play, and that’s what makes it so special to me. But their ability to put competitive teams on the field in this environment also speaks to something we don’t talk about much. And that is the power of teamwork and culture.

Navy leads the all-time series 62-55-7 – 16 of 17 wins from 1999 to 2015, including 14 straight, helped the cause.

However, Army staged a comeback, winning six of their last eight games.

Founded in 1922 by a group of military officers, USAA donates to national and local nonprofit organizations to support military families and communities where employees live and work.
