USPS, Amazon, FedEx: When should you order Christmas gifts?

If you’re a late shopper, here are the deadlines for shipping your Christmas shopping so that it ends up under the tree on time.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – The holidays are fast approaching for most people, which means buying gifts for loved ones can become a last-minute scramble.

Luckily, there’s still time to send the perfect Christmas present. But keep an eye on these deadlines and make sure that the packages reach the sender before the specified dates!

USPS

If you are sending a package to a loved one, USPS recommends shipping it by December 18th to ensure it arrives before December 25th. If you are shipping something to or from Alaska or Hawaii, USPS recommends submitting it by mail by December 16th.

If you pay extra for USPS Priority Mail Service or Priority Mail Express Service, you can ship the gift a few days later and it will still arrive on Christmas Day.

Amazon

If you’re ordering holiday or last-minute gifts, Amazon offers one-day nationwide delivery (at an additional cost). To make it clear to shoppers, Amazon added the “Coming Before Christmas” label to items when browsing their website.

FedEx

FedEx offers several options for shipping your package. If you are using FedEx Ground Economy, the last day to order is December 13th. However, if you’re willing to pay for FedEx SameDay, you won’t be able to ship it until December 24th. You can find a full list of deadlines here.
