Utah Jazz embarrass the Portland Trail Blazers at home, 141-99

The Portland Trail Blazers returned to the friendly confines of the Moda Center this evening after a few days off absolutely blown away from the reeling Utah Jazz. The Jazz entered the evening as slight underdogs with a record of 4:17. They then embarrassed the Blazers at home for four quarters, winning by a final score of 141-99.

This may not have been Portland’s worst loss of the season, but it’s a strong contender for the unwanted award.

Blazer of the Game: Sorry, but I won’t do it tonight. Honorable mentions go to Jerami Grant, who put up some good stats, as well as Rayan Rupert and Jabari Walker, who both tried to add some energy to the game. In the third quarter, a young Blazers fan on the Jumbotron did a moonwalk-like dance in the stands to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” which was pretty cool. If I really had to choose, YOU, my friend, are the Blazer of the game tonight.

Stats of the night: 46 against 1. The Jazz led by as many as 46 players during the rush. Utah took a 13-3 lead in the first few minutes and then added another 10 points with each quarter like clockwork. In comparison, the Blazers’ largest lead was just one when the score was 3-2.

What we’ll remember: The Blazers are getting knocked out by one of the worst teams in the NBA. The Blazers haven’t entered many games as perceived favorites in recent seasons. Some might have expected tonight’s game to be a good opportunity for the Blazers to show off their skills and do their business in front of their home crowd. At the very least, the Blazers were expected to put on a competitive show for their fans on a Friday night. Instead, the Blazers made a loud and disappointing dud.

What’s next: A one-game road trip in La La Land. The Blazers play against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
