Utah Jazz vs. Philadelphia 76ers: Summary and Final Score

The Utah Jazz gave the Philadelphia 76ers all they could handle and lost 114-11.

There was a lot to figure out about this game, but it’s important to note that the Sixers are not NBA title contenders. Joel Embiid and Paul George are shells of their former selves. Now it could be that both are struggling with injuries, but it doesn’t look good. In this case, there were times when they were outclassed by Drew Eubanks and Micah Potter.

I don’t know what rock bottom looks like for a team, but it could be something like this.

For the Utah Jazz, they just keep getting better. Will Hardy does a great job of setting players up for success. At this point, the Jazz have some decisions to make. It’s clear that developing youth and finding a high pick in the draft are the biggest goals. But there are some competing factors on the team. Collin Sexton continues to play at an elite level, putting up big numbers with great efficiency every night. Tonight was no different. Sexton had 20 points with 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Oh, and he did it by shooting 9/16 from the field and 2/4 from three.

The question for Utah is what gains players like Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and John Collins are making with their time on the floor. Utah is in a dead heat in the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes and nights like tonight for Sexton make things more interesting than they should be. We’ve already seen the Jazz win some games they shouldn’t have won, and a Sexton trade fixes that immediately. Yes, the Jazz can wait until the trade deadline, but it would be better to get it done sooner rather than later. There’s too much at stake. There’s one thing to consider: Maybe Utah is afraid their young guys will win too many late in the season? We’ve already seen Keyonte George develop at a high level and he’s only going to get better. And now we’re seeing some great signs from Brice Sensabaugh.

Speaking of Sensabaugh: That was by far the best game of his career. SensaBUCKETS scored 20 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. He did it by shooting 6/9 from the field and 3/5 from three. But perhaps best of all, he only had three turnovers. Sensabaugh and the other young players are getting to the point where the Jazz should get more minutes to see what they have. Players like Sexton and Clarkson are fun and are great players in their own right, but that’s meaningless at this point. Trades should be made sooner rather than later.

All in all, it was a great evening for jazz. These losses are difficult to overcome with the first-class coaching and improved play of all team members. We’ll see what the Jazz do here soon, but let’s hope they make a move because they can’t afford to take even a step back considering how close this tank race has become.
